The Fabbrica di San Pietro commissioned Italian design agency studiogusto to create Michelangelus, a digital typeface inspired by Michelangelo's handwriting from Vatican archives, to establish a modern visual identity for St. Peter's Basilica while honoring its 400th consecration anniversary. The typeface, which balances Michelangelo's geometric precision and calligraphic flourishes with contemporary readability, will be integrated into Microsoft 365 applications and used for basilica signage and materials.
