SpaceX's Starship megarocket reached orbit for the first time on its 14th test flight (Sept. 28), successfully deploying 26 Starlink Version 3 satellites to low Earth orbit. The new V3 satellites are twice as heavy as predecessors and offer ~10x greater downlink capacity, with SpaceX planning to eventually build a megaconstellation of about 100,000 satellites requiring roughly 1,700 Starship launches.
The October 2026 full moon, called the Hunter's Moon, reaches peak illumination on October 26 at 12:11 a.m. EDT. Named for its historical association with autumn hunting season when harvested fields made prey easier to spot, the moon will be visible starting October 25 at sunset and offers viewing opportunities alongside Saturn and other celestial objects.
