The U.S. Treasury sanctioned the A7 network, a Russia-linked shadow financial system, for facilitating Iran's sanctions evasion and processing over $17 billion in transactions. The network, also connected to North Korea's hacking activity, used cryptocurrency and ruble-based tokens to move funds for Iran's central bank and Revolutionary Guard Corps.
