Bungie is overhauling Marathon by adding a permanent PvE mode called Symbiosis in December and moving away from strict seasonal schedules, responding to player feedback for more depth and variety. These changes come after Sony laid off most of Destiny's team and some Marathon developers in June, forcing the studio to reset its original extraction shooter vision.
