Paleontologists from Fundación Dinópolis have identified the first confirmed Diplodocus fossils found outside North America, discovered in Spain's Teruel province and dating to 150 million years ago. The 25-meter sauropod's remains provide evidence that dinosaurs dispersed between North America and Europe during the Late Jurassic by crossing temporary land bridges.
Fourteen tail vertebrae discovered in eastern Spain represent the first confirmed Diplodocus fossil found outside North America, dating to approximately 150 million years ago during the Late Jurassic. The finding strengthens evidence that dinosaurs migrated between Europe and North America when temporary land connections may have existed across the developing proto-Atlantic Ocean.
