A gamer who purchased a used AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor found themselves permanently banned from Riot Games titles after the CPU was flagged for the previous owner's cheating. Riot's anti-cheat system Vanguard appears to identify and blacklist hardware components, with no manual appeal process available to affected users.
Riot Games' Vanguard anti-cheat system now includes Anti-Boost technology to detect and penalize rank manipulation in League of Legends and VALORANT. The system identifies when higher-skilled players log into accounts they don't own to artificially inflate rankings, resulting in account suspensions, rank revocation, and bans. Since late 2025, over 296,000 accounts have been actioned for this violation across both games.
