Israeli engineer Ziv Attar sold Glass Imaging to OpenAI for $300 million after pioneering camera technology including iPhone Portrait Mode. Attar previously founded LinX, which Apple acquired in 2015, and developed the dual-camera Portrait Mode feature that became standard across smartphones. At Glass Imaging, he aimed to use AI to enable smaller, cheaper cameras with higher image quality.
