The Museo de Historia de la Computación in Spain built a 1:1 scale replica of the 1976 Cray-1 supercomputer using 30 Mac Minis from 2012-2014, achieving 1.3 teraflops of performance as a 50th-anniversary tribute. The project demonstrates how consumer hardware networked together vastly outperforms the original machine while using passive cooling to remain nearly silent.
