A developer used Astra to remove approximately 60% of Kata Containers code while maintaining full Kubernetes-Firecracker integration support, reducing attack surface and improving auditability. The hardened fork runs x86_64 workloads in Firecracker VMs with 13.5k SLOC for host runtime and 8.1k for agent, tested in a homelab cluster but offered without security guarantees or production verification.
