    Box3D uses the separating axis test (SAT) for collision detection between convex polytopes, but SAT can be computationally expensive. This article describes an optimization technique using inscribed spheres to compute upper bounds on separation and cull unnecessary edge pair tests before they reach the expensive SAT computation.
