Chinese automaker Geely announced it will enter the Canadian market in 2027 with its first vehicles, establishing operations and a dealer network through geely.ca. The company has not yet confirmed which models it will sell, but likely candidates include the EX5 electric SUV and Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid based on exports to other markets. Geely's timing capitalizes on Canada's January 2025 deal with China that created a quota of 49,000 Chinese-made EVs per year at a reduced 6.1% tariff rate.
