Edinburgh-based Singular Photonics has launched Litavis, the world's first SPAD image sensor with on-chip photon processing that combines photon counting, timing, and statistical analysis on a single chip. By performing analysis directly on the sensor rather than sending raw data to external processors, Litavis reduces data transfer requirements and enables lower-latency, more power-efficient imaging systems. The software-configurable sensor supports multiple imaging modes including photon-counting, time-correlated single-photon counting, and coincidence detection, with applications spanning machine vision, robotics, quantum sensing, and medical imaging.
