RETN, a British network service provider, opened a new subsea cable route between Taipei and Hong Kong to reduce vulnerability to underwater cable disruptions and support growing AI demand. The route is part of RETN's strategy to provide Taiwan with six physically diverse international paths, addressing recurring subsea failures caused primarily by fishing activities and ship anchors rather than sabotage.
