An analysis of Reddit knife subreddits reveals potential astroturfing: one chef's knife brand receives 31% of product recommendations from just 5% of accounts, four times the statistical baseline. The author developed a named-entity model to track brand mentions across six knife-focused subreddits and examined whether concentrated recommendations exhibit patterns consistent with paid promotional campaigns.
