Researchers at the University of Copenhagen found that AI chatbots provide significantly narrower and less diverse information than Google searches across 155 topics. Testing 27 large language models revealed that even the most diverse model (GPT-5) offers at least 18.7% less varied information than traditional web search, risking 'knowledge collapse' as users increasingly rely on chatbots as their primary information source.
