Stellantis has patented a fire-prevention system for Dodge vehicles that ejects the high-voltage battery pack from an EV during thermal incidents, then uses the 12-volt battery to move the car away from the now-detached burning battery. While more controlled than competitors' designs, the system leaves a hazardous lithium-ion fire in the vehicle's original location.
