Archaeologists discovered two intact burials at Göbeklitepe in Turkey dating to 8,700–8,000 BCE, revealing that scattered human bone fragments found throughout the site likely came from ordinary subfloor burials that were displaced downslope by erosion as the settlement mound grew over millennia.
