American Supercritical has emerged from stealth with $8 million in funding to retrofit inefficient gas turbines at data centers using supercritical carbon dioxide technology, which can increase energy efficiency by up to 50 percent without additional emissions. The technology operates in a closed loop and reduces water consumption, though it does not eliminate emissions from natural gas combustion.
