Earendil has released Pi 1.0, a hardened and minimal agent harness with new features including Codemode support, extension capabilities, and improved model caching. Alongside Pi 1.0, the company is shipping Pi Durable, an experimental package designed for building long-running agentic applications while maintaining Pi's core principles of minimalism and malleability.
Pi.dev reversed its previous stance against MCP (Model Context Protocol), integrating it into the core platform. The decision stems from MCP's evolution over the past year and Pi's need for a sandbox interpreter similar to MCP's requirements, enabling better tool composition and supporting new model capabilities like deferred tool loading.
