Janne Grunau posted seven patches to enable NVMe support on Apple M3, M3 Pro, Max, and Ultra SoCs in Linux. The patches add ~140 lines of Device Tree YAML configuration and may be included in the Linux 7.4 merge window in October. Users can currently run Linux on Apple M3 hardware using the downstream Asahi Linux distribution.
Developer Andrii Salivon posted patches to add mainline Linux kernel support for the Amazon Kindle 4, enabling the i.MX50-based device to boot with DeviceTree support, console access, and eMMC functionality. While custom distributions like postmarketOS have supported the device for years, these patches aim to bring official mainline kernel support. Testing with Arch Linux for ARM demonstrated the capability on actual hardware.
