NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory is falling from orbit and expected to reenter Earth's atmosphere in early to mid-October after a rescue mission failed. The satellite, launched to study gamma-ray bursts and other cosmic events, will cease operations once it drops below 185 miles altitude, though debris is unlikely to cause significant damage. A experimental servicing satellite called LINK attempted the rescue but ran out of fuel before executing the capture.
