A 6,800-year-old Serbian settlement called Opovo Ugar-Bajbuk was nearly twice larger than previously thought, covering 9.4 hectares with up to 711 residents from the Vinča culture. New geomagnetic surveys and radiocarbon dating reveal a well-organized community with low social inequality, evidenced by similar house sizes and cooperative large-scale earthwork projects without signs of coercion.
