Wadjet Eye Games' narrative vampire RPG Nighthawks was briefly flagged with an adults-only rating on Steam days before launch, restricting its visibility, but the rating was reversed after developer pushback. The mischaracterization ultimately generated significant publicity for the game, which founder Dave Gilbert called a net positive despite the stressful ordeal.
Vampire RPG Nighthawks was labeled as adult content on Steam just before its September 22nd release, causing it to be delisted in certain countries. Developers Richard Cobbett and Wadjet Eye Games disputed the classification, arguing the game contains only mild romantic content with fade-to-black scenes. The label has since been removed following developer appeals to Valve.
