General Motors introduced a new 6.6-liter Gen 6 small block V-8 engine for the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, producing 481 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque—making it the most powerful naturally aspirated pickup engine. The engine features increased displacement, a higher 12.5:1 compression ratio, a new dual fuel injection system combining direct and port injection, and a completely redesigned oiling system addressing reliability issues from the previous 6.2-liter engine.
General Motors unveiled two new V8 engines for its 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups: a 5.7-liter L76 producing 402 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.6-liter L78 producing 481 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque.
