A book study of Hunter College Elementary School (HCES) alumni found that despite high childhood IQ scores, they achieved less than expected nationally or globally. The author argues this result is explained by statistical errors: base-rate neglect (Nobel prizes are extremely rare) and regression to the mean (early childhood IQ scores don't reliably predict adult IQ), meaning HCES students were less elite as adults than their kindergarten selection suggested.
