The Bank of England has selected four wildlife species—the Atlantic puffin, barn owl, buff-tailed bumblebee, and European hedgehog—to feature on redesigned banknotes, replacing historical figures like Winston Churchill. The animals were chosen from a public vote of 2.5 million votes, with the puffin added for marine diversity. The new notes will roll out over several years with enhanced security features.
