Jev, a reranker model from TypeSafe, was tested against 18 other reranker configurations across five datasets using LanceDB for retrieval. The study found Jev to be fast and competitive, with performance varying by task; adjusting the relevance prompt from strict document-answering to broader relevance improved multi-hop retrieval accuracy significantly while maintaining performance on most other benchmarks.
