AMD plans to bring FSR 4, its machine learning-based framerate enhancement technology, to handhelds by the end of 2026, alongside new APUs and a lightweight FSR4 model. It remains unclear whether existing handhelds like the Steam Deck will receive the technology or if it will require new hardware such as AMD's upcoming Ryzen Z3 chips.
AMD is expanding FSR 4, its machine learning-based upscaler, to gaming handhelds, laptops, and mini PCs by year-end through a new lightweight model optimized for APUs without dedicated ML hardware. The technology, initially exclusive to Radeon 9000 cards, will also power upcoming product lines with RDNA 4 graphics and full hardware acceleration for upscaling and frame generation.
