TreasuryDirect provides more guidance on ID.me transition

The U.S. Treasury announced updated guidance on the mandatory transition to ID.me for TreasuryDirect login verification. ID.me will launch September 13, 2026, and become the sole login method October 28, 2026, though users can restore access anytime afterward by completing ID.me setup. Treasury clarified that accounts will remain secure, tax documents can be mailed if needed, and ID.me has no access to account balances or financial data.
