The LUX–ZEPLIN (LZ) Experiment is a dark matter detection collaboration searching for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) using a 7-tonne liquid xenon detector located 1,500 metres underground in South Dakota. As of December 2025, LZ has found no evidence of WIMPs above 9 GeV/c², though in September 2026 the collaboration announced a single high-energy event from 2023 with 2-3σ significance requiring further analysis to confirm validity.
