Suzuki Motor has instructed its Indian suppliers to halt production one day per week for machine maintenance, aiming to prevent unscheduled stoppages and maintain quality as Maruti Suzuki prepares to increase annual production to 4 million cars by 2030. The directive, issued for the first time, requires suppliers to operate on a 20-hour, 6-day weekly schedule by September 2027, though this represents a significant operational shift from the traditional seven-day production model used by Indian component makers.
