Google stopped indexing new Usenet posts to Google Groups in 2024, leaving the massive archive difficult to search. A new service called Usenet-Rewind by Erie Data Systems now makes it easier to search the billion-plus message archive dating back to 1981, allowing users to find historical Usenet content that was previously hard to locate.
Usenet-Rewind is a searchable archive of Usenet newsgroup messages spanning from 1981 to present, containing over 1 billion posts covering tech support, scientific discussion, hobbyist communities, and internet history.
