The article examines two categories of SQL query builders based on how they handle operation ordering. FunSQL, EF/LINQ, and dbplyr are order-sensitive, producing different results when pipeline operations are rearranged, while Active Record and Laravel are order-insensitive. This difference stems from what data type flows through the pipeline, despite these libraries sharing superficially similar compositional interfaces.
