SpaceX's Starship megarocket reached orbit for the first time on its 14th test flight (Sept. 28), successfully deploying 26 Starlink Version 3 satellites to low Earth orbit. The new V3 satellites are twice as heavy as predecessors and offer ~10x greater downlink capacity, with SpaceX planning to eventually build a megaconstellation of about 100,000 satellites requiring roughly 1,700 Starship launches.
