The XRP Ledger patched a decade-old bug that could have allowed attackers to create billions of XRP tokens from nothing by exploiting the ledger's exchange system to miscalculate amounts owed. Researchers discovered the flaw could bypass the token's fixed-supply rule, though there was no evidence it was exploited on public networks. The fix was released in September 2024.
The XRP Ledger activated its Batch feature on mainnet with support from 30 of 35 validators, enabling users to bundle two to eight transactions into one operation with four execution modes. The feature supports use cases like OTC trades, delivery-versus-payment settlement, and NFT swaps, with institutional and retail developers already working on commercial projects using the functionality.
