A retired Army colonel and social media influencer with over 620,000 X followers, Kurt Schlichter, worked as a civilian government employee for the Pentagon's task force on military ideology. WIRED found posts where Schlichter praised authoritarian dictators, called liberal women a 'pestilence,' advocated restricting voting rights, and demanded authoritarian crackdowns on political opponents.
