    Solomon's Paradox

Solomon's paradox is the tendency for people to give wise advice to others while failing to apply the same reasoning to their own problems. Psychologists Ethan Kross and Igor Grossmann coined the term, inspired by King Solomon and a modern judge of the same name, both known for sound judgment in others' affairs but poor personal decisions. Research showed that self-distancing—viewing one's situation from a third-person perspective—effectively reduces this bias and restores wise reasoning.
