Analysis of PostgreSQL development activity trends from mailing list archives (1998–present) and git history (1996–present) shows consistent growth in communication volume, with messages increasing from ~25 to ~100 per day, and message sizes growing significantly after 2009 and 2016, correlating with the introduction of commitfests and deployment of the commit fest app.
