Earlier this month, we reported on playtests for an unannounced AAA fighting game and I presented some data points as to why this mystery fighting game is highly likely to be NetherRealm Studios' latest project and more specifically Injustice 3.

Today, we got another interesting tidbit of information which further corroborates this speculation and not only that — this one specifically highlights two characters for the game, making it even more juicy.

The information today comes from MP1st which spotted a very interesting find relating to the project, namely the resumé of a motion capture actor which specifies characters.

On the resumé, they also mentioned Jake Huang as a stunt coordinator. Huang has been working at NetherRealm Studios for the last 4 years according to his own LinkedIn page and was credited in a similar role on their latest release, Mortal Kombat 1.

Given that Huang already worked the same position in the studios' prior game, it makes perfect sense that he'd be doing the same for Injustice 3, now so this lends even more credence to what's written on this person's resumé.

Now, as for what's actually written for the motion capture artists' credit, she has two specific characters mentioned — one returning character and one who hasn't been playable in the Injustice games proper before.

These two characters are Supergirl and Batwoman, so essentially female counterparts to DC's heaviest hitters Superman and Batman, though also well-established characters in their own rights.

Supergirl makes all kinds of sense considering she was a very central part of Injustice 2 and portrayed as sympathetic first to Superman's regime before later defecting to Batman's faction.

Given that she recently got her own movie and is being pushed as a major player in the current DC cinematic projects, she's a no-brainer for an inclusion both just for the Injustice storyline but also for DC's broader multimedia strategy moving forward.

As for Batwoman, she hasn't been part of the Injustice games before, although she did appear in the Injustice comics and — SPOILER ALERT — seemingly died in them. This would imply that either this is going to be a retcon, or we're seeing Injustice 3 move into reboot territory or incorporate more alternate universe shenanigans.

Of course, it could also be so simple as a different character taking on the mantle as is pretty commonplace in DC Comics in general, where even major characters like The Flash, Green Lantern and even ever-so-briefly Batman have had different people behind the masks.

Injustice 3 remains unannounced but it's rapidly starting to appear as something of a "worst kept secret of all time" in the fighting game arena, so expectations are quite high to see what it will look like once NetherRealm Studios finally shows it off (assuming it's real, but given all of the evidence stacking up it's becoming hard to say otherwise.)

Personally, I'm expecting to see the grand reveal at The Game Awards in December, but there are other opportunities before then where it might be viable to show it off, such as the New York Comic-Con which is happening a few weeks from now, between October 8th and 11th.
