When Pi Network's name appeared on Open Standard's partner list, many people were quick to assume that Pi had been integrated into the Open USD stablecoin. In reality, there is no basis for that yet.

What has been confirmed

OUSD is issued by Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company owned by Stripe, with reserves held at BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY. The token runs on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo. Open Standard's homepage also says Open USD is open to any business that moves money, so the partner list includes both large corporations and small projects.

Pi Network's name is on the partner list, but the available information does not say what role Pi plays, nor does it confirm any official integration with OUSD. Another source notes that the partner page was last updated on September 29, 2026, and that the Pi Core Team has not explained its role.

Why doesn't OUSD run on Pi's chain?

Open Standard has not stated why it chose these chains, so this section is inference.

- Existing infrastructure: Ethereum, Solana and Base already have exchanges, wallets, DeFi and custody services. A stablecoin needs these to be usable right away.

- Fit with partners: Stripe, Visa, Mastercard and Coinbase integrate mainly with the large chains. Tempo is backed by Stripe, so it fits with the founding group.

- Regulatory compliance: reserves follow US regulations, so the chain needs to be accepted by financial institutions and have custody and auditing tools.

- Scale: the system is aimed at billions of transactions, so it needs a chain that has been proven at scale.

As for Pi, its DeFi ecosystem and liquidity are much smaller than those of the chains above. This could be one reason, but it is still speculation.

What does being on the list mean?

It is possible that Pi has only signed up to participate and that no technical integration exists yet.

Conclusion

For now, the relationship between Pi and OUSD comes down to Pi's name being on the list. To reach a firmer conclusion, we need to wait for an announcement from the Pi Core Team or Open Standard stating Pi's specific role. https://x.com/pitown89/status/2105347122946326701
