Because the media portrays AI only as a menace, people tell pollsters they “don’t like AI.” Their behavior says otherwise. AI products are the fastest-adopted technology in history — faster than the internet or the iPhone. People like the tools, the jobs, and the tax base.

The scarce resource in Physical AI is not GPUs. It is corroborated space at human height.
We already have orbital resolution and highway-grade street capture. What autonomous systems still lack is the band in between: stairwells, bay doors, indoor aisles, informal markets, construction edges the geometry a machine meets in the last ten meters. That band is where accidents happen and where most commercial maps go silent.
@vangrid_io is an attempt to industrialize that band without standing up another sensor fleet.
The capture instrument is the phone people already carry. A pass is recorded, identifiers are stripped on-device, and the file is fingerprinted at the moment of capture. Reconstruction produces a 3D asset. The batch root is attested and anchored on Base, so a buyer can treat provenance as a public fact rather than a vendor claim. Overlap between independent devices is how confidence is supposed to rise. Absence of coverage is how a bounty gets posted.
Read that as a market design, not as a growth hack.
Traditional spatial supply is capex-heavy and calendar-slow: buy vans, book routes, wait for the next sweep. Vangrid inverts the cost curve. Hardware is already deployed. Capital is spent on the observation someone actually commissioned. A robotics lab, a logistics operator, or a sovereign program can pull coverage to a specific polygon instead of inheriting whatever a mapping company filmed last season.
That only works if the data is procurable. Procurable means privacy filtered at the edge, residency options for enterprise, and a hash a counsel or a security team can check. Most “community mapping” dies at that gate. The footage exists. The audit trail does not.
