The currency converter app that works offline
RioWallet is a free currency converter app for RON, EUR, USD, GBP, PLN, HUF and JPY. It installs straight to your home screen — no app store, no account, no ads — and keeps converting at the last official European Central Bank rates even with no signal.
No frameworks, no trackers, no waiting — it opens instantly and keeps working offline.
Works offline
The last rates are stored on the device, so it opens and converts with no signal.
Installs like an app
Straight to the home screen, in its own window, no app store.
Official ECB rates
The European Central Bank’s daily reference rates, via Frankfurter.
Supported currencies
Every pair among these seven is available in both directions. Because the European Central Bank quotes everything against the euro, a pair that does not involve the euro is derived through it, and can differ slightly in the last decimal from a rate quoted directly between the two.
How it works
Choose your base currency
Pick the one you think in. Everything else is expressed against it, so the numbers stay intuitive.
Pick what to track
Choose as many of the remaining six as you find useful. You can change the selection at any time.
Type an amount
Every card updates at once, so you read the whole picture without converting one pair at a time.
Refresh when you want
The rates you already have stay on the device, so the app remains useful even when the network does not.
No download required
A real app, without the app store
RioWallet is a progressive web app: you install it straight from this page. No App Store listing, no download, no updates to approve. Add it to your home screen and it gets its own icon and window, like any other app.
It works the same on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac — all it needs is a browser. Once installed it keeps working offline, so a plane or a basement with no signal doesn’t stop you converting.
About the rates
The figures in RioWallet are the European Central Bank’s euro foreign exchange reference rates, delivered through the Frankfurter API. The ECB publishes them once per working day, at around 16:00 Central European Time, based on a daily concertation between central banks across Europe.
Because publication follows the ECB’s own calendar, there are no new rates on weekends or on Eurosystem holidays. On those days RioWallet shows the most recent working day’s figures, and the date the rates were published is always shown beneath the base currency, so you can tell at a glance how current they are.
These are reference rates, published for information and statistical purposes. They are not transaction rates, and no bank or exchange office is obliged to trade at them.
