The first confirmed USDT0 transfer from Ethereum to IOTA took place on September 17.
More importantly, this is no longer based on hints or test tokens. The official USDT0 documentation now lists IOTA L1 and describes a dedicated Ethereum ↔ IOTA route.
USDT is locked on Ethereum → USDT0 is minted on IOTA. USDT0 is burned on IOTA → USDT is released on Ethereum.
So one of the pieces IOTA has been missing is finally becoming real: a dollar liquidity and settlement layer directly on the Move-based L1.
And the timing gets even more interesting.
On September 23, 19 Move packages for a perpetual exchange were reportedly deployed to the IOTA Mainnet within just 48 minutes, together with an exchange and a vault configured to use the official USDT0 token as collateral.
There is no live market or trading yet, and we still don’t know who’s behind it. So this is clearly early infrastructure, not adoption.
In fact, only around 1.27 USDT0 was on IOTA at the time of the latest check.
But look at what is beginning to come together:
🌐 @TWINGlobalOrg / trade infrastructure → real-world trade data 🪪 @iota Identity → identity & verification 🏦 Tokenization → digital assets / RWAs 💵 USDT0 → dollar liquidity & settlement 📈 DeFi → lending, collateral & markets
This is the part I’ve been waiting for.
Trade and RWA infrastructure becomes much more interesting once it has access to a liquid settlement asset and financial markets on the same underlying network.
We’re obviously nowhere near that scale yet.
But USDT0 reaching IOTA changes this from “could happen” to “the rails are actually being deployed.”
Now I’m watching for three things:
USDT0 liquidity → live DeFi markets → actual RWA / trade-finance usage.
If those pieces start connecting, that’s where things get really interesting. 🔷

We keep building better protocols…
but still expect users to understand:
bridges, approvals, gas, slippage, signatures, networks, LPs, vaults, routers, aggregators…
before they can do something as simple as move money.
And then we wonder why people stay on exchanges.
The next wallet I actually want to use isn’t the one with 50 features.
It’s the one that makes me forget those features exist.
I want to say:
“Move this USDC to the cheapest chain.”
“Put this into the safest yield strategy.”
“Swap this.”
“Show me what I’m earning.”
And the wallet handles the complexity without hiding the important risks.
That’s where I think wallets + DeFi protocols get interesting.
The protocol doesn’t necessarily need to become simpler.
The interface needs to become smarter.
Because the average user shouldn’t need to understand the plumbing to use the house.
And here’s my question for builders:
Are you building infrastructure for crypto users…
or are you building infrastructure that finally makes crypto usable by everyone else?
If you’re building a wallet, DeFi protocol, aggregator or anything solving this problem, I want to see what you’re working on.
