## @chainalysis (Chainalysis) · 09-30 20:14 · ♥41 ↻7 💬2 Today, OFAC sanctioned an FBI Top 10 fugitive and Tren de Aragua member who allegedly stole millions from U.S. ATMs using malware loaded on Raspberry Pis — and laundered the proceeds through crypto.

Our investigators analyzed the on-chain network surrounding the now-sanctioned wallets. What we found: counterparties with exposure to known money laundering operations based in Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela that have been used by drug cartels, smugglers, and other illicit actors.

While the underlying crimes differ, criminal organizations rely on common laundering infrastructure to move funds. ATM jackpotting proceeds flow through the same channels as drug trafficking money. "The on-chain insights show us that criminal organizations are leveraging common infrastructure for laundering," said Chainalysis Senior Intelligence Analyst Kaitlin Martin. "These are insights that only the blockchain can provide."

We also found these networks heavily use stablecoins to move criminal proceeds globally. Stablecoins offer price stability, but they also leave these networks susceptible to advanced monitoring and instant freezing actions.

This action is part of a broader government campaign: 30+ actions against 300+ individuals and entities tied to transnational criminal organizations since 2025. As these groups increasingly route funds through crypto, on-chain intelligence becomes critical.

## @VanQish7 (VanQish) · 09-30 22:08 · ♥42 ↻2 💬0 This IS a big development — but watch the distinction.

Judy Shelton has spent years advocating monetary reform, including long-dated Treasury securities convertible into a predetermined amount of GOLD.

Now she’s no longer simply making the case from outside Washington.

She is Counselor to the U.S. Treasury Secretary.

That does NOT mean a gold-backed Treasury has been approved.

But it does mean the person advancing the concept is now sitting inside the institution capable of seriously evaluating Treasury issuance policy.

The next confirmation signal isn’t another tweet.

Watch Treasury borrowing announcements. Watch TBAC. Watch Bessent. Watch for actual issuance language.

Personnel → Policy Discussion → Official Documentation → Implementation.

We just moved one step further down that chain.

And one thing I would not add yet is XRP, stablecoins, or a “gold-backed dollar” conclusion. There isn’t evidence from this appointment alone connecting those pieces. https://x.com/VanQish7/status/2105419493841502515
