Their summit was excellent, but it’s really the announcements they’ve secured recently around it, and the focus those announcements show.
Blockchains die from a lack of differentiation.
There are too many of them. We only need a few. Yours needs to be about ONE thing, and that thing needs to be defensible.
Memecoins are NOT defensible.
Meme traders dgaf where they trade. They follow liquidity. Look how rapidly activity can rotate from one ecosystem to another, like what happened with Robinhood vs Solana.
Memes are basically impossible for a chain to own. An app can own them, like @fomo or @Pumpfun, but a chain can’t.
But massive institutional deals with enterprise companies and nation states?
Those are defensible as hell.
And sovereign interoperable L1s are literally Avalanche’s original thesis. So seeing them full-circle to focus on that original positioning, and actually execute on it at a very high level, makes the whole thing feel much more coherent to me.
Will that make number go up?
Absolutely no idea. That’s its own question.
But can it make Avalanche money as a business and give them a repeatable, scalable model that lets them own and defend a unique lane in this insane industry?
Absolutely.
And that’s probably more important to long-term survival than number go up.

This past year on Abstract has been terrible on pretty much every level. I could write 100 pages about everything that went wrong, but I’ll try to keep it simple.
Let’s quickly recap what the community got these past months:
• Barely any updates to the Portal, their flagship product... • Little to no progress on the wider onchain ecosystem. • Native streaming removed. • Almost 0 communication from the team. • Metrics propped up by the team’s own games. • An All-Star badge. • No real trading updates. • XP inflation like we’ve never seen before.
But what worries me most is what could happen next.
Abstract relied so much on gaming that it stopped giving the rest of the ecosystem enough attention. NFTs, DeFi, trading, other dapps...
Now it looks like OCH/MoG, Gigaverse, Tollan and Cambria could shift more, or even all, of their attention to Robinhood. (Which would leave us with Moody Madness/Archives to carry the chain…)
These are some of the main reasons people still use Abstract. If the games go elsewhere and their users follow, what’s left to keep people here?
Coming back from that would be near impossible. I’d give it a 1% chance, and you probably have to be in denial to still believe it can happen.
Well, I’m in denial.
I still think Abstract could make a full reset and get some market share back. There’s still that 1% chance, but they need to grab it and do something fast before it turns into 0%.
A TGE can be one of the most lucrative events for a project, and I’m pretty sure the team wants it to happen just as much as the community does.
So give people something to look forward to and a reason to stick around.
Be more open about what’s happening behind the scenes. Talk about new hires, upcoming updates and what is actually slowing everything down.
Share the plan for the next few months and where you want Abstract to be in a year or two. People shouldn’t have to guess where the chain is going.
And give Abstract a face. Think Vlad or CZ. Someone who shows up, talks to the community and gives people the feeling that someone is actually there trying to make this work.
But we need more than silence while watching the ecosystem slowly leave and die.
This is not me fudding or saying I don’t believe in Abstract anymore.

Abstract has been really important to me, both for my growth in web3 and as a creator, and i’ll always be grateful to the green chain, but ngl, the last year hasn’t been great here, obviously the market plays a huge role in that, sometimes things go well, sometimes they don’t, that’s just how it is.
What actually worries me is seeing dev after dev leave the Abstract team, especially in the case of 0xBeans, co-founder of Frame, aka Abstract, the message this sends is just not a good one, o hate saying this, but right now the main reasons i still use Abstract are MoG/OCH and Cambria, there are other great dapps, i’m not denying that, but a lot of the ecosystem feels like it’s mostly built around farming rather than actually keeping users around.
Users have been drained, and the team, probably without realizing it, has supported builders who ended up leaving the chain at the first opportunity after extracting hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions, from users, Roachracing, Myriad, Multiplier, YGG, Duper and many others got badges, attention and support from the team, only to eventually bridge out, i don’t even want to make a whole list of all the promises that were made and never delivered, but there have been quite a few.
That being said, Abstract genuinely changed the way people interact with web3, especially normies. AGW and the Portal are perfect examples of that, i still think Abstract has a ton of potential and there’s obviously a lot that can still be built here, maybe if there had been proper DeFi from day one, things could have played out differently and Abstract could have attracted a much broader user base, but it didn’t happen and there’s no point looking back.
I just hope the team can give us some good signals about what’s coming in the near future, i’m not expecting everything to magically get fixed overnight, i’d just like to understand what the actual plan is and where the chain is heading.
Either way, it’s been a fun journey, and I’ll keep using Cambria and MoG like I always have, i’d use them even if they were on ApeChain or Cardano.
