Intel Meteor Lake enters battle
Durabook has launched the Z14I-DX3, a rugged mobile workstation built around three integrated 14-inch displays. The complete system weighs 21.61 lb, or about 9.8 kg, making it substantially heavier than the standard single-screen Z14I, which starts at 3.6 kg.
Three 1200-nit screens fold into the system
The Z14I-DX3 uses three 14-inch 1920×1080 DynaVue touchscreens rated at up to 1,200 nits. The two additional displays remain attached to the laptop and fold inward for transport. Each screen supports finger, water, glove and stylus input, while brightness can be controlled separately.
The system is based on Intel Meteor Lake Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 processors, including the Core Ultra 7 165U. Durabook supports up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory and offers several discrete GPU options, including the NVIDIA RTX A500, RTX 3500 Ada with 12GB of memory and RTX 5000 Ada with 16GB. The RTX 5000 Ada configuration is rated at up to 682 TOPS for supported AI workloads.
Built as a mobile field workstation
This is not intended to compete with conventional gaming or productivity laptops. Durabook is targeting defense, emergency services, industrial work, UAV control and other field applications where operators may need maps, telemetry, video feeds and other data visible at the same time. The magnesium-alloy system carries MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G certifications.
Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 4, dual Ethernet, two serial ports, HDMI, VGA, ExpressCard 54 and multiple USB ports. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are standard, while GPS, 4G LTE and 5G are optional. The system also has two removable NVMe drives and can be configured with additional PCIe expansion or RAID storage.
The additional screens also require their own 14.4V 6700mAh battery, while the workstation ships with a 210W power adapter. Durabook says the Z14I-DX3 is available now, although public pricing has not been announced and the company directs buyers to request a quote.
