## @Sumon_Web3 (Sumon🎴) · 09-30 08:03 · ♥20 ↻5 💬15 Three unrelated DeFi protocols lost $11M in a single day. The attack methods had almost nothing in common except the outcome.

Payy Network's bridge contract got drained of $1.8M through an exploit on its Ethereum connection. Duelbits lost $7M to what looks like a compromised private key. Meter lost $2.3M through its bridge, the same category of attack that cost it $4.4M back in 2022.

Different root causes, same week, same outcome. That's the part worth sitting with. DeFi security isn't failing at one weak point that a single fix could patch. Bridges keep failing for new reasons even after past failures, and key management keeps failing independently of that entirely.

Meter getting hit by a bridge exploit twice, four years apart, is the clearest data point here. The lesson from the first hack didn't generalize to the second attack, because it wasn't the same lesson.

A sector this interconnected doesn't get safer by fixing the last exploit. It gets safer when every protocol stops assuming its own architecture is the exception. https://x.com/Sumon_Web3/status/2105207009654051059
