## @_abgweb3_ (ABG) · 10-08 14:40 · ♥91 ↻2 💬11 More than 31.2% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply is held behind public keys that are already visible on chain. According to Glassnode data, this amounts to more than 6 million BTC, roughly 5 6 percentage points above the 2023 low.
Since May, exposed supply has increased by 222,000 BTC, with 123,000 BTC of that increase coming from exchanges. Exchanges now hold around 1.79 million BTC behind publicly visible keys.
The ratios vary significantly across platforms. Coinbase is at around 10%, while Binance is as high as 83%. Only 2% of Fidelity’s roughly 375,000 BTC is exposed, compared with 49% for Grayscale, 99% for Revolut, and 100% for Robinhood.
These figures do not represent a direct security vulnerability. They measure whether public keys associated with Bitcoin addresses are visible on chain. There is currently no practical quantum attack capable of breaking Bitcoin wallet private keys.
However, sufficiently powerful quantum computers or future mathematical breakthroughs could theoretically pose a risk to $BTC held in addresses with exposed public keys.
