The attack path in crypto does not always begin with a bridge exploit or a leaked seed phrase.
The FBI is investigating malware embedded in games distributed through a popular gaming platform, with its public victim page naming titles including BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi and Tokenova. A federal complaint tied to the investigation alleges that around 8,000 devices were infected and roughly 80 crypto wallets were accessed, with at least $220,000 stolen.
What stands out is the delivery mechanism.
The victim does not need to visit a fake exchange. A seemingly ordinary application can become the initial compromise, then malware searches the device for credentials and wallet access.
For crypto users, “wallet security” therefore includes every machine and application surrounding the wallet.
A secure seed phrase on an infected computer is not a complete security strategy. The endpoint is part of the custody stack too.
