How it works
01 · CHOOSE
Start with a guided practice you can edit, or write your own script on a blank tape. On the Script screen, “Hear how it sounds” lets you preview the words before recording.
02 · MAKE IT YOURS
Type or dictate your script, then record it one card at a time with optional background ambience. You can also choose a voice or follow the words silently with Read-Along.
03 · RETURN
Keep recordings in your private Tape Library or make a Sealed Tape for a later date in Future Me. A tape you recorded in your own voice can be sent to someone as a single encrypted file, and they are asked before it joins their library.
Inside the app
Choose the voice when you start Read-Along, then adjust voice speed alongside the pace. The 50 Selfime-written practices come with a prepared reading, while your device’s own voice can read anything else. You can also read along with a tape you recorded yourself, with its voice silenced.
Breathe gives you a visual breathing guide. You can add an optional place label to a tape or, on iOS, log a session’s length and timing as Mindful Minutes in Apple Health.
The tablet layout shows your deck beside the library and gives Takes & Sound two panes for editing recordings.
Recording privacy
Selfime keeps your library on your device without an account or server; you choose where to save backups and encrypted Recovery Kits.
Your recordings, scripts, and reflections live in private app storage, with no copy held by Selfime.
Finished recordings are encrypted on your device, along with the words, schedules, and reflections stored beside them.
Enable Deck Lock in Settings to require Face ID, a fingerprint, or your device passcode when the app starts and after one minute in the background.
Dictation and transcription are off by default and use only your device’s speech recognition, never a cloud service.
Move your library with an encrypted Recovery Kit and a 12-word recovery code, which Selfime cannot recover if lost.
Your phone schedules listening reminders locally, without registering for remote push notifications.
Selfime does not upload your recordings or words to services it controls. Encrypted Selfime data may be included in system backups or in exports you create yourself.
